Hello,

I have a free trial for Project, but I don't want to keep the subscription. Also it is so difficult to unsubscribe from it on the web so I was unable to do it by myself. Can you cancel the subscription for me please?

Thank you for responding!

    Dear Microsoft Support,

I registered for a free Microsoft Project trial, but unfortunately, I was unable to complete the installation and never used the service.

After one month, Microsoft charged my card USD 14.40. I do not know which Microsoft account is associated with this subscription, and I cannot recover the account.

Please help me identify the account, cancel the subscription before the next charge expected on 5 September 2026, and request a refund for the USD 14.40 charge, as I did not use the service.

    Payment details:

    • Amount: USD 14.40
    • Card ending in: 1579
    • Merchant reference: G175445045
    • Bank reference: 873719652

Please let me know if you require any additional information.

    Dear @tadej,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand that you are having difficulty canceling your free trial for Microsoft Project. It is a common experience that managing subscriptions on the web can be confusing.

As a forum moderator, I genuinely wish I could directly access your account and cancel this for you. However, due to security and privacy protocols, I am unable to log in or make any changes to your subscription on your behalf, including canceling the free trial. Our role here is limited to providing general guidance and solutions that can be applied by users.

Here is the step-by-step guide to canceling a Microsoft 365 trial or subscription, which should work for the Project trial:

You must be logged in as the Global Admin or Billing Admin for your organization's Microsoft 365 account to perform these steps.

Step 1: Log into the Admin Center

    1. Open your web browser and go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
    2. Log in using the administrator account associated with your Project trial.

    Step 2: Navigate to Billing

    1. In the left navigation menu, expand the Billing section.
    2. Click on Your products (or Subscriptions in some older views).

Step 3: Find and Cancel the Trial

    1. You should see a list of all your active products and trials.
    2. Locate the entry for the Microsoft Project subscription (it should be labeled as a trial).
    3. Click on the subscription name to open the details pane.
    4. In the details pane, look for the Cancel subscription (or Delete subscription).
    5. Follow the prompts to confirm the cancellation. You may be asked for a reason.

Once you cancel the trial, the subscription status will change to Disabled and then Deleted, ensuring you are not charged when the free trial period ends.

Also, I recommend checking the link provided by the Q&A Assist above to see if it helps.
If you encounter persistent issues during this process, the only way forward is to contact Microsoft 365 Billing Support directly, as they have the internal tools to process the cancellation for you. For detailed instructions on how to get support, please refer to Get support - Microsoft 365 admin. For additional assistance, use this link to find the appropriate contact number: Global Customer Service phone numbers - Microsoft Support

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this. Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments so I can continue to support you. I'm looking forward to your reply.

To cancel your free trial for Microsoft Project, you can follow these steps:

    1. Access the Microsoft 365 Admin Center: Go to the admin center where you manage your subscriptions.
    2. Turn Off Recurring Billing: If you want to cancel your trial before the free trial period ends, you need to turn off recurring billing. This will ensure that you won't be charged once the trial ends.
    3. Let the Trial Expire: If you do not turn off recurring billing, the trial will automatically expire at the end of the trial period, and you won't be charged if there is no payment method associated with the trial.

Unfortunately, I cannot cancel the subscription for you directly, but following these steps should help you manage your trial subscription effectively.
