If your Word application needs repair and the "repair now" option is not working, you can try the following workarounds:
- Manually Access, Open, and Repair:
- Start Word.
- Go to the File tab, select Open > Browse to locate the damaged file.
- Select the file, then choose Open from the menu at the bottom and select Open and Repair. This will attempt to repair the file before opening it.
- Change File Format and Resave:
- Open Word and go to File > Open to locate the damaged file.
- Select Save as > Browse and choose a different file format, such as Rich Text Format (*.rtf).
- Save the file, then reopen it and save it back as a Word document.
- Check for Updates:
- Ensure that your Office applications are up to date. You can check for updates in the File menu under Account > Update Options.
- Repair Office Installation:
- If the above methods do not resolve the issue, consider repairing the entire Office installation via the Control Panel. Go to Programs and Features, select your Office installation, and choose Change to access the repair options.
