PowerPoint files are all readonly

I am using a iPad M5 13in running iPadOS 26.1. Following office app updates all of my PowerPoint files open as read only. I have previously been able to edit these on the device. This is also the sae if I create a new PowerPoint. Once I close and reopen it is read only saying there are potential incompatibilities.

I am an Enterprise user with a E3 licence which covers the mobile app on the larger screen.

Any ideas. I have removed and reinstalled one drive and PowerPoint and completed all the normal tests and checks?

We’ve looked into the issue where PowerPoint on your iPad (iPad M5 running iPadOS 26.1) is opening in read-only mode. Could you please confirm whether Word and Excel are experiencing the same behavior?

Currently, many users have reported that Office apps unexpectedly open in read-only mode, freeze, or fail to load after the update even when files and permissions are correct. This issue is currently linked to a compatibility problem between the latest iPadOS 26 update and Microsoft Office apps for iPad.

At the moment, I haven’t found any official confirmation from Microsoft that this is a known incident. Please understand as a moderator, I don’t have the internal tools or permissions to escalate or resolve service-related issues directly.

Therefore, I strongly recommend that you report this issue via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center by navigating to: Health → Service Health → Report an issue. If you’re not an admin, please contact your organization’s Microsoft 365 administrator for assistance.

Please note that this is not caused by the document itself, your permissions, or anything on your device. It’s a temporary software compatibility issue that Microsoft is actively working to resolve in an upcoming update. The more reports Microsoft receives from affected organizations, the more they are to investigate and address the issue. Their engineering team will review customer reports, verify the issue, and take appropriate action to mitigate it.

Thanks for the feedback; it is only affecting my PowerPoint files currently. Not experienced any issues with other document types.

I will raise it with our M365 Admin for escalation. Great to know it is not something specific to me. Fingers crossed for a quick resolution.
