The text disappears each time I press Enter in the MS Word Online (Web Version)

I encountered an issue when typing in the MS Word web version: the text disappears as I enter my type. I accessed it through Google Chrome in desktop view on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+, and the same problem occurs when I try other browsers. This issue does not appear in PowerPoint or Excel.

I have the same exact tablet with the same exact problem. I uninstalled the Grammarly app and extension in both chrome and edge and nothing works. Still searching for answers.

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft community and sharing the details. I understand the text disappears whenever you press Enter, so let’s work through this together. First, can you confirm if the text vanishes right after you hit Enter, or only when you start typing on the next line? Also, does this happen in every Word document or just one specific file? Knowing this will help us figure out whether it’s a document issue, a browser rendering problem, or something tied to the Enter key behavior.

This is actually a known bug in Word Online when using desktop view on Android tablets. It happens across different browsers but doesn’t affect PowerPoint or Excel.

Here’s what you can try: turn off Widow/Orphan control in paragraph settings, as some users say this helps. Another option is to switch keyboards or disable Gboard, which has resolved the issue for some Samsung tablet users. If that doesn’t work, try using mobile view instead of desktop view, or install the Microsoft Word app for Android, which doesn’t have this bug. Clearing your browser cache and making sure it’s up to date can also help.

If none of these steps fix the problem, it’s likely a Microsoft-side issue with Word Online on Android tablets. In that case, you can report it through the Microsoft Feedback Hub or use the Word app as a more stable alternative.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Edward
