Azure Identity / Tenant Split Across MS Work / Personal Account

I setup an Azure Devops organization (dev.azure.com) using my work email address, but this apparently created that email to a 'personal' MS account. I later added an Azure subscription. This caused a fracture of the account where the same company email alias was a Personal AND Work MS account. Depending on what service I logged into first, it would load one tenant or the other.

I managed to update my personal account to a new @outlook alias and that fixed the login flow, but now I have an orphaned organization under the new personal outlook alias, while my subscriptions, Entra ID, and all the work stuff is under the original work email, that is now an MS work account.

When I go into the into the personal account I can see my Repos, but all of the user management is messed up and won't load. When I go into my work account I see my subscriptions, but cannot get access to the Repos and that dev organization I previously setup.

How can I get my organization moved to my MS work account under my work email alias?

Thanks for the details. What’s happening is the DevOps organization is still backed by the personal identity, while your subscriptions/Entra ID are under the work identity. The supported fix keeps your projects and repos intact:

Link the DevOps org to your company tenant Sign in as the current org owner → Organization settings → Microsoft Entra ID → Connect directory (pick your company tenant). https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/devops/organizations/accounts/connect-organization-to-azure-ad?view=azure-devops

Transfer org ownership to your work account Organization settings → Overview → Change owner and select your work account (it must have signed in once). https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/devops/organizations/accounts/change-organization-ownership?view=azure-devops

Clean up & re‑point billing Users sign in with work accounts; recreate PATs/SSH keys if prompted; set DevOps Billing to the Azure subscription in the work tenant.

If Switch directory is greyed out or errors appear, use the “Switch to another Microsoft Entra ID” path (retains projects but requires remapping users/groups), or—only as a last resort—migrate repos with git --mirror and Boards via Azure DevOps Migration Tools.

Due to a deadline, it has taken me awhile to be able to get back to this:

I’m able to access Organization Settings -> Microsoft Entra ID -> Connect directory, however the dropdown only shows a single option called “Default Directory.”

The Tenant ID shown, when I choose that, does not match our corporate Entra tenant.

The UI does not expose our actual corporate tenant, so we cannot complete the directory switch from the portal.

Are you able to perform a backend directory reattachment of the Azure DevOps organization to the correct Entra tenant and then transfer ownership, preserving the existing organization and URL?
