Microsoft 365 Old domain owner tenant

I recently purchased a domain and am trying to set it up with Microsoft 365, but I’m unable to proceed because the domain is still attached to the previous owner’s Microsoft 365 tenant. I was told that the old tenant needs to be removed before I can use the domain myself.

The issue is that I can’t get in touch with anyone at Microsoft support by phone to help resolve this. I finally got to chat with someone on the microsoft team that told me they can't help and I need to contact the business department of Microsoft 365 but when I try to call them it is automated and tells me to go online for help. However, I can't get help online because I can't login since I don't have access. I am in an enless loop of no help.

In addition, when I asked the customer service rep to ask a supervisor for help they ended the chat. Terrible service.

Does anyone know the correct process or the best way to get Microsoft to remove the prior tenant so I can use the domain on my new Microsoft 365 setup? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
