When attempting to select the "Slideshow" background option in the "Personalization" area of my settings, the background pull down menu immediately reverts back to ""Picture". I can select "Solid color", "Windows Spotlight, or "Picture" but not "Slideshow" - it just doesn't stick. I've been able to use it before but now it's not working for some reason. I can't even get to the option of choosing the file folder for the slideshow content. How do I resolve this issue?
There are many reports of this background personalization settings problem since a recent update, most likely it is caused by the update.
Click your Start Button, then just type winver and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting dialog box.

Open the Settings app, then go to System - Recovery.
Click the 'Reinstall Now' button in the 'Fix problems with Windows Updates' section, then wait for that process to complete, this process will not affect your files, settings or installed apps.

Typing in "winver" has solved this issue, thanks.

BUT i lost all the files in the folder that so far i looked at it. Please help.
By the way, i only backed up data from time to time to my external drive.

When i revisit the folders after making the comments and panicking, Took more than 5 plus minutes for the pictures showing up in the folder.
