My personal Microsoft account was converted into a work account by mistake and I am stuck in an Azure AD tenant with no admin.

Normally, a user can switch tenants/directories in Azure portal if they have access. However, without a global admin in the new tenant, there is no one to grant permissions or remove your account from that tenant. Your original Azure subscription is tied to your original tenant, but since your account is now stuck in the new tenant, you lose access because the authentication context is different.

The recommended approach is to:

1. Attempt to recover or find the global admin of the new tenant to have them remove your user or assign required permissions.
2. If no admin exists and you cannot recover admin rights yourself, contact Microsoft Support explaining the issue. Microsoft support may help reclaim the account or tenant access under verification.

I recommend creating a billing & subscription management support request so that you can speak to support engineer and ask for tenant access. Billing & subscription management support is free.

To get dedicated support, please follow these steps to create a support request through the Azure portal:

Click on New support request and follow the prompts to submit the details of your issue.

For billing issues, please follow these step by step to create a support request:

1. Go to the Azure Portal, click on Help + Support, and then select Create a support request.
2. In the Support + Troubleshooting pane on the right, type subscription management in the search box, select subscription management and then click Next.

Select the subscription and click Next. You will then see a list of suggested solutions. If none of this address your issue, please proceed with the steps outlined below.

Scroll down past the suggestions until you see the Contact Support option. From there, select Create a support request

Fill the details and click next

If the solutions appear again, click on 'Return to support request'.

Click Next, and you will then be able to create the billing support ticket.
