How do I get a refund for an unused Azure subscription?

I created an account on Azure towards the end of October. I chose the free trial option because I was working on a personal project that lasted for a few days. Surprisingly, I got a bill of 91,30 euros for the entire month of October, even though the account was used just for a few days. And I am to pay an additional amount of 138 euros for November, even though the subscription has been canceled. This is outrageous. I need a refund of 91,30 as it has already been deducted as of November 9th.

Hello Victory Victory,

I understand you've the unexpected charges on your Azure account, especially after opting for a free trial. Here's what you can do to request a refund.

Here are the steps you can follow to create support requests:

  • Go to Azure portal > Search for Help + Support or https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_Support/HelpAndSupportBlade/~/overview
  •  Click on Create a Support Request
  • On right-side panel, enter Billing and click Go > select the issue with "Billing" > select your Subscription then click on Next.
  • Do not click on request a refund instead click on the Create support request on top of the panel. User's image

To request a refund for an unused Azure subscription, you will need to follow the appropriate steps based on your subscription type. If you have a pay-as-you-go or Visual Studio Azure subscription, you typically receive an invoice via email for each billing period. If you believe you have been incorrectly charged, you can analyze your charges and usage to understand the billing better.

If you want to cancel your Azure subscription and seek a refund, you can do so through the Azure portal. However, refunds are generally not guaranteed for unused subscriptions, especially if charges have already been processed. You may need to contact Azure billing support directly to discuss your specific situation and request a refund.

For further assistance, you can create a support request in the Azure portal to address your billing concerns directly with Azure support.
