How to update site version of SCCM setup which is in active and passive mode?

Dear All,
I am reaching to this platform to seek help as I want to update the site version of my SCCM environment from current version to 2503. However, SCCM setup is in active and passive mode. currently, node1 is in active mode and node2 is in passive mode. I have never done the site version update in such setup. Therefore, please someone can help me to guide the process that how I can perform it in safe and effective way. Thanks
