Clicking on the date suddenly no longer makes the calendar pop up. How to fix?

All of a sudden, nothing happens when I click on the date/time in the lower right corner. Previously, it made the calendar pop up. I use this A LOT as a teacher. How do I get it back? I've already read other posts, which suggested turning notifications on. I tried that, but nothing happened (Except now there's a sleeping bell next to the date). Still nothing happens when I click on the date.

Welcome Luara to the Q&A Forum!

Thanks for posting your question and I'm sorry for the inconvenience you've met.

I understand you're having a frustrating time with the calendar not popping up when you click the date/time in the lower right corner of your screen. Here are a couple of steps you can try to get it back:

  1. Look for the expand arrow:

It may seem obvious, but I just want to be sure you don’t overlook this icon (shown in the image) that opens up the calendar. Click the arrow to expand the calendar.

  1. Restart Windows Explorer:

Right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager.

Find Windows Explorer in the Processes tab, right-click on it, and choose Restart. This can help refresh the taskbar and notifications.

  1. Check if Notifications and Action Center are disabled (for Pro version)

Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, hit Enter.

Go to:

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar

Find Remove Notifications and Action Center. If it’s Enabled, the calendar won’t open.

Additional tip: Ensure your Windows is up to date, as sometimes these issues get fixed in the latest updates. Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.

Hopefully, one of these steps gets the calendar popping up for you again! If you’re still having trouble, feel free to reach out.

    Hi, good day!

    • When was the last time it worked properly?
    • Have you made any changes to your computer recently?

Please try to restart Windows Explorer

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.

    Select the Processes tab.

Scroll down and look for Windows Explorer

    Right click then select Restart.

Please try to run SFC and DISM to check for any system errors and corrupted files.
