Hi All, I am having a hard time working out why the One Drive location on my Mac is not uploading files to the same location as the web version is storing them. When I open the onedrive app on my Mac I can see lots of recently uploaded files but if I open onedrive via the web these recent files are not there. I had no luck with getting any support from Microsoft hence this cry for help. I am not great with computers

    Hello,

You are most likely signed into a different OneDrive account on the Mac than the one you are checking on the web, or the Mac app got out of sync. The fix is to unlink OneDrive on the Mac and link it back to the exact same account you see on the web.

Start by opening OneDrive in your browser and look at the email shown in the top right. Keep that email handy. On the Mac, click the OneDrive cloud icon in the menu bar near the clock, choose Settings > Preferences > Account > Unlink this Mac. The OneDrive window will switch to a sign in screen. Sign in again using the exact same email you saw on the web. When it asks where to store your OneDrive folder, accept the suggested location.

If it notices an existing OneDrive folder, choose the option to use this location so it reconnects rather than creating a second folder. Finish the setup and wait. Click the cloud icon again and watch the status. You want it to say Up to date. Do not move the OneDrive folder manually while it is syncing. When the status shows Up to date, refresh OneDrive on the web and your recent files should appear.

If anything in those screens looks different or you still do not see the files on the web after it says Up to date, tell me the email shown on the Account tab and the exact status line you see under the cloud icon, and I will guide you from there.

It sounds like you might be experiencing a sync issue with OneDrive on your Mac. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this problem:

    1. Check Sync Status: Make sure that the OneDrive app on your Mac is running and that it is connected to the internet. You can check the sync status by clicking on the OneDrive icon in the menu bar. If there are any errors, they will be indicated there.
    2. Update OneDrive: Ensure that you have the latest version of OneDrive installed. Sometimes, syncing issues can occur if you are using an outdated version of the app. You can check for updates in the app or download the latest version from the Microsoft website.
    3. Clear Cached Files: Sometimes clearing cached files can resolve sync issues. You can do this by accessing the Microsoft Office Upload Center (if available) and deleting cached files.
    4. Stop and Resync: If the above steps do not work, you might want to stop syncing the library and then start syncing it again. This can help establish a fresh connection to the server.
    5. Check File Restrictions: Ensure that the files you are trying to sync do not violate any restrictions or limitations set by OneDrive, such as file size limits or unsupported file types.
    6. Check Library Configuration: Make sure that the library you are trying to sync is configured to be available offline.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft support again for further assistance.
