How do I get a Windows subscription?

If you are a university student, you usually don’t need to purchase Windows at the full $100 price.

Most universities provide Windows Education or Windows 10/11 Education free of cost through their IT department or Microsoft’s education programs.

What you can do:

Check with your university IT department Many institutions offer Windows licenses to enrolled students.

Sign in to Microsoft Education / Azure for Students Use your university email ID to access free software, including Windows, if your institution is eligible.

Use Windows without activation (if needed temporarily) Windows will still work, but you’ll see an activation watermark and won’t be able to change personalization settings.
