No longer able to drag and drop messages from Inbox to a folder

I can select a message in the Inbox, but I cannot move it. Attempts result in either opening the message or opening the target folder, neither of which is the goal. This just started a few days ago. I don't think this is a mouse issue, as the mouse functions normally in other respects.

If you're unable to drag and drop messages from your Inbox to a folder in Outlook, it could be due to several reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Restart Outlook: Sometimes, simply restarting the application can resolve temporary glitches.
  2. Check for Updates: Ensure that your version of Outlook is up to date, as updates can fix bugs that may cause issues like this.
  3. Disable Add-ins: Certain add-ins can interfere with Outlook's functionality. Try disabling them to see if that resolves the issue.
  4. Reset View: Sometimes, resetting the view settings can help. You can do this by going to the View tab and selecting "Reset View".
  5. Check Mouse Settings: Although you mentioned that the mouse works normally, double-checking the settings or trying a different mouse might help rule out hardware issues.
  6. Repair Outlook: If the problem persists, consider repairing your Outlook installation through the Control Panel.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to consult Microsoft's support documentation or forums for further assistance.

I have just had this problem; it was the layout causing it ( layout, my day, calendar). Once I switched off, I could drag emails across to folders again, switch it back on, and again I couldn't drag ..
