Phone Contact Not on GroupMe

I want to add someone to GroupME. Their contact info INCLUDING their phone number is in my Outlook Contacts. But then I get the message "Phone Contact Not on GroupMe" under their name. If I am adding from OUTLOOK which includes their phone number, how can this be? If they already have the app downloaded, how do we fix this?

Thanks for reaching out. I understand how confusing it can be when you've already saved someone's number in Outlook, but GroupMe still says "Phone Contact Not on GroupMe".

This usually means the person hasn’t registered their GroupMe account with the same phone number you have saved. Even if they’ve installed the app, GroupMe won’t recognize them unless their account matches that number.

To fix this, you can ask your contact to check if their GroupMe is linked to the correct phone number. If not, you can also send them a group invite link or QR code directly from the app by tapping the group’s profile picture, enabling Group Sharing, and sharing the link however you prefer.
