Why is the FILES tab missing in all my Teams?

There is no FILES tab in Teams anymore. How can I fix this?

Hey Microsoft, why do you keep makings things worse and harder to use? Did you fire all of your employees? Are you giving too much money to your executives?

Quit making the products we are paying for worse. Quit making changes NO ONE ASKED FOR AND NO ONE WANTS.

This is confusing for users!!!! Why did the File tab change to Shared?

I spent hours with Cenitex this week trying to understand why the File Tab function had disappeared and I seem to be the only one in my organisation this has happened to.

This will be causing a lot of confusion and impact on IT with a rise of queries

Miceosft, you seriously are losing the plot creating problems instead of solving them. Please can you actually put your resources to good use instead of changing things around that have no value to make yourself look busy.

I HATE using TEAMS but I need to for work. I have wasted at least an hour of my time today trying to find my files. YUCK!!! Hate it, hate it, hate it. Did I say how much I dislike the constant changes and BS.

Thank you for your message, and I completely understand how confusing and frustrating this change can feel especially when something that previously worked well suddenly looks different without clear notice.

You’re absolutely right: the Files tab did not disappear due to a configuration issue. Microsoft has renamed the “Files” tab to “Shared.” Many users have been caught off guard by this update, and it has understandably created confusion.

This change is part of a product-wide UI update and unfortunately cannot be reverted by users or administrators. However, Microsoft does review customer feedback very seriously, especially when UI changes impact usability.

To ensure your feedback reaches the engineering team, I recommend submitting it directly through Microsoft Teams:

How to submit feedback:
1. Open Microsoft Teams.
2. Select Help (bottom-left corner).
3. Choose Give feedback.
4. Briefly describe your concern about the renaming of the Files tab to Shared and how it affects users.
Your feedback goes directly to the product group, and the more reports they receive, the higher the chance that they will review or adjust the change in future updates.

Thanks for the reply Sophie. Your position shows as Microsoft External Moderator, do you work for Microsoft? Have you used the new "Experience"? Only it is filled with clutter like the home page of OneDrive (which i have also had to work around to make go away), and as a result becomes something that is annoying to interact with as Microsoft fills the main real estate with things that it thinks you need, and is always, for me any way, wrong! And this makes that space just an annoying waste.

There are still some people in the world that that don’t need to be told what to do to be able to operate. I basically have no use for this new version as it is infuriating to interact with, not just because of the change, but because of the “One More Thing” with Microsoft products, where they are step by step making all of their products worse to interact with and buggy, so is a culmination of issues.

So I have just added the library as a separate tab in Teams to return the functionality that was taken from us, and recommend all users to do so, which is a sad state of affairs.

Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts, and I truly understand your frustration. Changes in the product especially when they affect familiar workflows can feel disruptive and unnecessary. I’m really sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you and your team.

To clarify your question: although my role is shown as Microsoft External Moderator, I do not work inside Microsoft, and I do not have the authority to change or influence product design decisions. My role is limited to helping users understand changes, offer workarounds, and guide them on how to submit feedback to the teams who can make product decisions.

Regarding the new Teams “Experience,” I completely recognize your point. Many users feel the interface has become cluttered or less intuitive, and your experience is valid. The renaming of the Files tab to Shared has also caused confusion.

Since moderators cannot modify or revert UI changes, the best way to ensure your voice reaches the actual engineering team is by submitting feedback directly, which goes into Microsoft’s internal product improvement system.

Choose Give feedback

Describe the impact of the UI changes and how it affects your workflow

I can’t find the Files either, but I’m on the app for mobile and iPad. In fact I can’t see the horizontal bar that appears on top of the screen when you enter a channel at all! I don’t see no Posts, Files, More, I don’t see no Shared either… I don’t see anything!

Delete Teams, migrate to Slack, and be done with this foolishness.

It was not publicized adequately, and some are tiring of Microsoft's centralized "we are the Kings" approach.
