When I attempt to download Norton 365 to my computer I cannot get past the UAC admin username and password screen. My password is not being accepted.

    Hello Patrick Morrow,

Thanks for reaching out—this is a common issue, and I’m here to help you through it.

When installing Norton 365, Windows may ask for an admin password to continue. If your password isn’t working, it could be due to a few things: you might be signed in as a standard user, the keyboard layout may have changed (check for Caps Lock or language settings), or Windows might be prompting for a different admin account than expected.

    Here’s what you can try:

Check your account type: Go to Settings > Accounts > Your info. If it doesn’t say “Administrator,” you’ll need to switch to an admin account.

    • Try another admin account: If one exists, sign in with it and run the installer again.

Forgot your password? Use Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Password recovery to reset it.

Right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator to ensure it runs with the right permissions.

If this guidance proves helpful, feel free to click “Accept Answer” so we know we’re heading in the right direction 😊. And of course, I’m here if you need further clarification or support.

    T&B,

    Domic Vo.

To reset your UAC (User Account Control) administrator password, you can follow these steps:

    1. Use the Self-Service Password Reset: If you have set up an alternative email address and mobile number, you can reset your own password using the Self-Service Password Reset wizard. This can be done through the Microsoft account recovery page.
    2. Ask Another Administrator: If you are unable to reset the password yourself, you can ask another administrator in your organization to reset it for you.
    3. Contact Support: If you are the only administrator and cannot access your account, you may need to contact Microsoft Support for assistance.

Make sure to follow the prompts carefully during the reset process and ensure that you have access to the recovery options you set up previously.
