Problem with Google GCPW logon

Hello!
I was posting to hopefully get some support. We've been experiencing problems with Google GCPW, where users are attempting to log into the device, and click the "Sign-in Options" to sign in with their google account, and the blank google login window will flicker for a milli-second and then disappear. I have updated Google chrome, Windows, unistalled GCPW, reinstalled GCPW, edited GCPW regedit and pushed all device patches and the problem is still persisting.

Was wondering if anyone has also experienced this, and if it is possibly a windows problem?

Thank you!

    El hallazgo clave está en el Report.wer:

    Sig[2].Value = InstallError|webview

    Sig[3].Value = 0x80040828

    AppPath = C:\Users\Soporte\AppData\Local\Temp\EU8307.tmp\MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe

    Ese error (0x80040828) es un caso documentado y conocido: ocurre cuando MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe intenta instalar/reparar el Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime (appguid {F3017226-FE2A-4295-8BDF-00C3A9A7E4C5}) y falla aunque el sistema reporte que "ya está instalado" — es decir, la instalación de WebView2 en este equipo está corrupta/mal registrada, y cualquier intento de reparación falla en seco. Esto confirma exactamente la hipótesis: GCPW necesita WebView2 para dibujar la ventana de login, WebView2 está roto, y por eso la ventana se abre y muere al instante.

    Solución:

    1. Desinstalar GCPW y limpiar versiones residuales
    2. Eliminar el registro corrupto de WebView2
    3. Reinstalar WebView2 Runtime desde cero
    4. Reinstalar GCPW (versión única y actual)

    Hi JStringe,

    The issue you're experiencing with Google Credential Provider for Windows (GCPW)—where the Google login window briefly appears and disappears—is currently under investigation by both Google and Microsoft. It has been reported by other users following recent updates to Windows 11 and Chrome.

    You've already taken the right steps by updating Chrome, Windows, and reinstalling GCPW. In addition, we recommend:

    Ensuring WebView2 Runtime is installed and up to date, as GCPW relies on it for rendering login UI.

    Verifying that SmartScreen and Windows Defender settings are not blocking GCPW components.

    Reviewing domain policies or registry entries that may interfere with GCPW’s login flow.

    Checking Google’s GCPW troubleshooting guide for any recent updates or workarounds.

    If my answer is useful for you, please vote for it by hitting ACCEPT THE ANSWER!!

    Have a good day!!

    Best regards,

    Domic Vo.
