I created a SharePoint site for my organization. Half of our staff need to access the site through the SharePoint APP on an iPad or iPhone. They are able to open PDFs through the App; unfortunately, they are not able to download the PDF to “Files” on their device. I’ve found that the only way to do this is to open the SharePoint Site on a browser. Opening the site on a browser is going to make it difficult for staff who do not have computers or are not tech savvy. What is the easiest way to download PDFs from the SharePoint APP to an iPad or iPhone?

    Hi @Stephanie Deily,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you. We understand that using a browser to download PDF files to your device can be challenging for some users.

Please allow us to provide the following information: The SharePoint app on iOS currently does not support downloading PDF files for local storage, so downloading PDFs via the web can be considered the most effective method at this time.

As moderators, we are not permitted to participate in the development of features or applications. In this case, we recommend that you visit the following link: Feedback Portal.

After accessing the link, please create a post sharing your request that, in the future, the SharePoint app on iOS will support opening and downloading PDFs directly within the app instead of requiring access through a browser. This action will help you connect with others who have similar needs. When a post receives high engagement, Microsoft’s product development team will pay attention to the issue, and it is possible that in the future Microsoft will provide a feature that makes this process more convenient for users.

Our primary role is to guide users to appropriate resources and support channels. While we do not have direct influence over product design decisions and only have limited access to internal information, we will do our best to assist you within the scope of our responsibilities.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding throughout this process. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.
