Lost my SQL Server 2017 Product License. How can I get it back for reinstallation

• Do you have access to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC)(OfficM365 Admin Center)
• Was the license purchased directly from Microsoft or through a partner/reseller?
• ·Is this part of a Microsoft Software Assurance or Enterprise Agreement?

Installation Context

•   Is SQL Server still installed on any machine? (If yes, recovery might be possible)
• Was this an OEM installation on a branded server (e.g., Dell, Lenovo)?
•   Is the server hardware still available, or was it replaced?
• Was the license key ever manually entered during installation, or was it pre-activated?

3. Recovery Attempts

• Have you tried retrieving the key using PowerShell or third-party tools?
• Have you contacted your vendor or Microsoft Support yet?
• Did you check the BIOS or registry for embedded keys?
• Was the key stored in a password manager or internal documentation system?

3. Reinstallation Needs

•  Are you reinstalling on the same hardware or a new VM?
• Is this a production server or a test/dev environment?
• Do you have any CALs (Client Access Licenses) associated with this installation?
