Unlock Recovery Vault

We need to unlock an immutable vault to make changes in our backup policy. We have been through this before and I know that back end assistance from your engineering team is required.

I previously opened a case for this, but for the last 5 weeks, support has been unresponsive after initially emailing me.

Our previous case (TrackingID#2509170040008256) was last updated on September 17, 2025. Please advise.

Hello Britt Tucker,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A platform.

If the State of Immutable vault setting is Enabled then the vault has immutability enabled and doesn't allow operations that could result in loss of backups. However, the setting can be disabled.

If it is Enabled and locked, then the vault has immutability with WORM storage enabled and doesn't allow operations that could result in loss of backups. As the Immutable vault setting is now locked, it can't be disabled. Note that immutability locking is irreversible, so ensure that you take a well-informed decision when opting to lock.

Could you please confirm if your state of immutable vault setting is just enabled or is it enabled and locked?

I’m aware of that setting but this immutable vault must be unlocked by the back end team.

Hi Britt Tucker,

The backend team has investigated and executed the required ACIS Action on your RSV, so the vault is now unlocked. You should now be able to disable immutability and proceed with the necessary changes.

Could you please verify if everything is working as expected and confirm whether the issue is resolved?
