Can I change the date format in Microsoft Planner?

Hello,

I found a response to my question, but it was dated a year ago. I hope it is now possible to change the date format in Microsoft Planner.

I don't want to change my browser language to Danish to get the right date format in MS Planner.

Hey Lene — totally understand where you’re coming from! It’s surprising how something as small as a date format can be so frustrating when it doesn’t match what you’re used to.

Unfortunately, as of right now, Microsoft Planner still doesn’t have a built-in option to manually change the date format within the app itself. The date format is still tied to your Microsoft 365 account’s region and language settings, not directly to Planner.

Here’s what you can try though (without changing your browser language):

Go to portal.office.com/account.

Select Settings → Language and time zone.

Change your regional format (for example, to Danish or UK).

Save the changes and refresh Planner — the date format should update accordingly.

That’ll change how dates show across your Microsoft 365 apps, not just in Planner, and it doesn’t affect your browser’s language.

I know it’s not as flexible as having an in-app option yet, but this workaround usually gives you the format you want. Hopefully Microsoft adds direct control over date formats in Planner soon — it’s a pretty common request!

Thank you for your response. It ought to be such a tiny thing to get sorted.

Anyhow, my account language is already set to Danish and the time zone to Denmark. The date format is correct in Outlook, OneNote, etc. Just not in Planner.

Although the screenshot shows my settings in Danish, I think that you can see that I have actually set them as suggested. Planner just doesn't get it.

Hey Lene, I totally understand your frustration — it really should be such a small thing to fix by now. It’s strange that Planner doesn’t follow the same regional settings as Outlook and OneNote, especially since you’ve already set everything correctly.

It looks like this is still a known issue on Microsoft’s side, where Planner doesn’t fully sync date formats yet. Hopefully, they’ll update it soon to make things consistent across all apps.

Also, if you don’t mind, please kindly upvote my previous comment — it helps more users who are facing the same problem find the solution more easily.
