Bug with the tag creator

Curiously, putting the com.microsoft.onenote.mac to the trash didn't sign me out. I also tried to sign me out manually.

I have exactly this problem, just discovered it yesterday so the OP seems to have had the same issue at the same time as me. Running Version 16.102.1 (25101829). I followed your instructions but it did not fix the problem.
First of all, there was no folder "com.microsoft.onenote.mac" in Containers or anywhere I can find on the disk:

I did delete the OneNote folder in ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office. When I restarted OneNote, the Create New Tag option initially wasn't showing up but after a few moments it did; when I clicked it, it was quite slow to load the custom tags pane at first but when it did, the pane was blank. It remains so.

Using Apple Notes for now as adding tags is as simple as using a hashtag in the note (though it applies the tag to the whole note rather than selected text within the note, not sure which I prefer).

Unfortunately, it didn't work at all for me.

I prefer the OneNote tags, which apply to the paragraph, because I have very complex notes for my PhD thesis.

I hope that this will be fixed in the next update.

Thanks for checking those earlier steps. It may come from corrupted WebView cache in OneNote for Mac. Try to rebuild only those caches.

Quit OneNote and make sure it is fully closed. In Finder press Command+Shift+G, paste this path and press Return: ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.onenote.mac/Data/Library/.

• If that folder exists, open WebKit and Caches inside it and move everything in those two folders to the Trash.
• If you do not see com.microsoft.onenote.mac, try this alternate container ID: ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.onenote/Data/Library/ and again clear the WebKit and Caches contents there.

Now press Command+Shift+G again, go to this path and press Return: ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/. If there is a WebKit folder, open it and move its contents to the Trash. Do the same for the Caches folder inside the same UBF8T346G9.Office location. Do not touch anything else in that Group Containers folder.

Start OneNote, sign in if prompted, let notebooks finish syncing, then click Accueil > Important > Créer une balise. The tag editor should render normally.

This operation only clears local caches and does not remove cloud notes, but it is always best to confirm all notebooks show Synced before you begin.

It's interesting, it has the same effect for me as the first solution. When opening OneNote, and clicking Create New Tag, there is a long pause before the Custom Tags pane opens. But once again it is blank with no button to add a tag.
