'The store blocked this account' message in visual studio 2022

Visual Studio 2022 says:

The store blocked this account. Ensure the account has permission to read reserved app names and that it is linked to a valid Developer subscription.

When I try to associate app with the MS Store.

But I have access in Partner Center and can create, update and publish apps. Everything was working literally a week and a half ago.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem. For apps already associated with the store, I can update and publish them, but when trying to associate a new app with the store or re-associate an app with a store I get the same error. Like you, it was working a week prior.

I had this issue just yesterday. When I do an internet search for this error message, there are tons of hits, stretching back ten years. So this is an ongoing problem. But none of the pages I've found have a solution. :-(

It's a lose-lose situation for both MS and developers. The Microsoft Store needs more apps; we have apps we want to distribute on the Microsoft Store, but this bug is preventing us. If anyone knows a workaround, I'd love to hear it.

Same issue there, It started on August 26, 2026... on August 25, it was working normally.

I figured it out. I just opened a support ticket with Microsoft, explaining that I was getting a "The store blocked this account. Ensure the account has permission to read reserved app names and that it is linked to a valid Developer subscription" error message.

I was afraid that MS would ignore my request for help, but within a couple of days, a technician contacted me to let me know that they had cleared the error for me, and closed the ticket. I confirmed that it worked again on my end, and submitted my app shortly afterwards.

Hopefully this approach will work for other developers in the same situation.
