Hello,

I'm working on a project where I need to block unauthorized access to Copilot. By "unauthorized accounts," I mean users who access Copilot through Microsoft 365 E3. The authorized accounts are those with a Copilot license that includes access to the Work/Web options.

How can I achieve this?

Specifically:

How can I block the Copilot application in Teams and the taskbar?

Is there a specific URL or endpoint for Copilot that I can block to restrict access for E3 users while allowing access for those with the Copilot 365 license? i have E5

Thank you for your support.

There are a few options to accomplish this:

Option A – Block for all users

    1. Open Teams Admin Center
    2. Go to Teams appsManage apps
    3. Search for Microsoft Copilot
    4. Open the app and set Status = Blocked
    5. Save the change

This prevents users from installing or launching the Copilot app in Teams. [learn.microsoft.com]

Option B – Block for specific users or groups

    1. Teams Admin Center
    2. Teams appsPermission policies
    3. Create or edit a policy
    4. Configure the policy to block specific apps
    5. Add Microsoft Copilot
    6. Assign the policy to the target users/groups

This allows you to block Copilot only for selected departments or users. [learn.microsoft.com]

Option C – Remove from the Teams app bar

If you only want it hidden from Teams:

    1. Teams Admin Center
    2. Teams appsSetup policies
    3. Remove Copilot from the pinned apps list

This hides the icon but does not fully block access.
