Why is my Minecraft a black screen ?

Hi, Recently I have a problem with Minecraft. Here's the circumstances :

I opened the launcher, as usual, and opened Minecraft. What a surprise to see only a black screen showed up ! But it was just visual, as the sound and the game seemed to be working correctly. I could clic on on the screen and hear the game. But I see nothing, and that's annoying. Doesn't matter what Minecraft version it is, the same thing happens.

Strangely, it seems to be happening because I updated my drivers to the lastest update, as Minecraft worked correctly before. I did it from AMD Software. But I can't prove it's my drivers' fault because I have no way to update again as there's no newest update yet.

I tried different things. I tried reinstalling Minecraft, it didn't worked. I looked at posts to see if I could solve the problem, but the solutions provided weren't useful to me, so here I am.

Hi Sacha,

Possible reason you are getting this problem is due to outdated or corrupt graphics drivers, incorrect display settings.

Since you already tried to update your AMD driver and getting the same problem. Try this steps see if this will help:

Try adjusting Minecraft's Graphics Settings

Click Start button then open Settings, click System then choose Display then open Graphics.

search for your Minecraft executable (usually javaw.exe if you're using Java Edition, or the Minecraft Launcher if you're using Bedrock/Game Pass version).

For Java Edition - This is often located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft Launcher\runtime\jre-legacy\windows-x64\jre-legacy\bin\javaw.exe or similar paths within your .minecraft folder's runtime subdirectories (e.g., C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming.minecraft\runtime\java-runtime-gamma\windows-x64\java-runtime-gamma\bin\javaw.exe). You might need to check a few javaw.exe files if you have multiple Java runtimes installed for different Minecraft versions/modpacks.

Once added, click on Options for Minecraft (or javaw.exe).

Select High performance (to ensure it uses your dedicated GPU if you have one).

Click Save then Try again.

    Hello! if anyone else haves this problem and this isnt a viable solution you can also try going to your graphics setting of your graphics card (in AMD's case adrenaline software) and deactivate openGL triple buffer, restart the game and the screen will be normal now

    So, I managed to FINALLY find the javaw.exe AND make it to work. Here's how I did it :

    1. I opened Minecraft Launcher and start any Minecraft version.
    2. I opened the Task Manager, right clicked on the game tab and opened the file's folder. It opened this : C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.4297127D64EC6_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Local\runtime\java-runtime-gamma\windows-x64\java-runtime-gamma\bin - There was the javaw.exe file !
    3. I added it into the Graphics Sttings app list and selected "High Performances" as mentionned before.
    4. Then, I closed and reopened Minecraft and it worked !

    So, thanks for the help provided, as it still helped me. The main reason I couldn't make it to work was because I couldn't find the javaw.exe file at its usual place.Also, thank you for the time spent to help me.

    Hi Sacha,

    Thank you for responding. If ever updating the Display Driver and locating the setting for your

    Minecraft Graphic settings still did not help to fix the issue. Try again this next step if it will help:

    See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem began following this guide.

    System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started.

    Click Start button and search Control panel then press Enter to Open. Select Recovery Open System restore. This will required an administration access. Check and test if will work.
