Microsoft 365 Business Plan License Limits

Hi,

I have 290 Microsoft 365 Business Basic licenses in my tenant, and I’m planning to buy another 200 Microsoft 365 Business Standard licenses.

Is this allowed under the current Microsoft 365 Business license limit (since each plan has a 300-seat cap)? Or does the 300-user limit apply to all Business plans combined?

Hi,

The 300-seat limit applies to the entire Microsoft 365 Business family, not to each plan individually. This means that Business Basic, Business Standard, and Business Premium licenses share the same cap of 300 users per tenant.

So, if you already have 290 Business Basic licenses, you can only add up to 10 more Business licenses (of any type) before reaching the 300-user limit. If you need more than 300 users, you’ll need to consider moving to Microsoft 365 Enterprise plans (such as E3 or E5), which do not have this restriction.
