Hello Monique Samuels, welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Unfortunately, when you exit Word, the app removes the unsaved changes from memory. This action cannot be undone, and the version history will only show previously saved versions—not the discarded one.

Now your best chance is if AutoSave was enabled and the file was stored in OneDrive or SharePoint. In that case, open the document online and check its Version History to see if the most recent saved version is available. You can also look in the Recent tab in Word or the Files app on your device to see if a cached copy exists.

If the file was saved only locally and not synced to the cloud, the discarded changes cannot be recovered. For future work, enabling AutoSave on cloud-stored documents is the best way to prevent this issue.

    Kind regards,
