Hello Microsoft Team,

I’ve noticed a recent change in the error message returned by Azure API Management when a request is made without a subscription key. Previously, the message was:

"Access denied due to missing subscription key. Make sure to include subscription key when making requests to an API."

Now, it appears to have changed to:

"Access denied due to a missing application credentials or subscription key. Make sure to include an application token or a subscription key when making requests to the API."

Could you please confirm:

  1. Whether this change is intentional and part of a broader update?
  2. If there is any documentation or changelog that references this update?
  3. Does this reflect expanded support for other authentication mechanisms like OAuth tokens?

This clarification would help ensure consistent error handling and communication with developers using our APIs.

Thank you!

Best regards, Saroj Kumar PATNAIK
