Azure created my free trial account with my WORK ACCOUNT instead of the email I provided

1. When you signed up, your browser was likely logged in with your work Microsoft account, so Azure automatically associated the subscription with that account.
2. Azure only allows one free trial per person, and eligibility is tied to identity details (email, name, phone, credit card). Canceling the subscription does not reset eligibility immediately because the system still sees your identity as having used the free trial.

Below are the workarounds you can try:

Check if the Work Account Tenant Still Exists:

• If the subscription was created under your company’s Azure Active Directory (AAD), you cannot fully control it without the global admin’s help.
• If possible, ask your IT admin to remove your account from the tenant or delete the subscription.

Create a New Free Account with a Personal Identity:

• Use a completely new Microsoft account (personal email like Outlook, Gmail).
• Use a different phone number and a different credit/debit card than the one used before.
• Clear browser cache or use an incognito window to avoid auto-login with your work account.

If You Still Get “Not Eligible”

• It means your identity info (name, address, card) is still flagged as having used the free trial.
• In that case, you have two choices:

  • Or start with Pay-As-You-Go (no upfront cost, you only pay for what you use). For learning set Azure Cost Alerts and Delete resources immediately after labs to keep costs near zero.
