When creating a multi-level list in PowerPoint, the indent does not reduce as expected after pressing Enter and Tab. A video demonstrating the issue is provided here: <Information deleted for privacy protection>. Previous experiences with Docs, Word, and Google Slides did not show this behavior. What steps can be taken to reduce the indent in PowerPoint?

When I was making my presentation slide, I decided to make a multi list. Simple and easy to look at. The slide isn't styled yet because I haven't completed the presentation.
I only pressed enter and tab.

I don't know if it should act like this. I used to use docs, word, google slides. and all of them didn't do this. What am i supposed to do to reduce the indent?

    Dear @Lyon Cun

I hope you're having a nice day. Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description and video, the indent behavior isn't working as expected when using Enter and Tab in PowerPoint.

Here are some steps and suggestions that may help resolve this:

Before proceeding, please ensure your Windows system and PowerPoint application are fully updated to the latest version.

To update Windows, go to Settings > Windows Update.

    For updating PowerPoint:

Click Files > Account > Update Options > Update. User's image

Step 1: Delete the old line and retype it. This helps reset the formatting and ensures the indent works correctly on the next line.

Step 2: Press Enter to create a new bullet, avoid clicking outside the text . Doing so may disrupt the formatting and indent structure.

Step 3: Press Tab to increase the list level (create a sub-bullet). Make sure to do this before typing any new text. Also, you can press Shift + Tab to decrease the list level (move back to a higher level).

Additionally, indents can be adjusted using either the ruler or the Paragraph settings found in the Home tab.

Option 1: Adjust Indents Using the Ruler

Go to the View tab > check Ruler.

    Select the bulleted text.

Use the indent markers on the ruler:

First-line indent marker: controls bullet position.

Left indent marker: controls text position.

Drag them to adjust spacing as needed.

Option 2: Use the Paragraph Group on the Home Tab

    Select the text.

On the Home tab > Paragraph group:

Click Increase List Level or Decrease List Level.
