Data Loss After Fast Restore on MySQL Flexible Server
Hi,
We are using an Azure MySQL Flexible Server with the following configuration:
Tier: Business Critical
SKU: E2ds_v5
vCores: 2
Memory: 16 GiB
Storage: 393 GiB
IOPS: 1479
Auto-backup: Enabled
We recently performed a restore using the Fast Restore option. The restore completed successfully, but we noticed unexpected data loss in specific tables across almost all databases.
Key observations:
Not all tables are affected.
The tables with missing data are typically larger tables with more rows.
The missing data is not recent. In several cases, rows written months ago are missing.
The data loss pattern is consistent across multiple databases.
This is not a simple case of losing 1–2 days of data (as might be expected from snapshot timing).
This issue raises serious concerns about the reliability of automatic backups. We need help diagnosing why this data loss occurred and identifying possible solutions.
Thanks
