I can't open suddenly my ppt file on the microsoft powerpoint app , it is only working for pptx not ppt file ? And I need a solution because I couldn't read my assignment through it because it has ppt extension

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Regarding the error "PowerPoint found a problem with content in PPT file." you encountered, this generally happens if the system is blocking the file or because of certain settings in PowerPoint application.

Before proceeding with the methods listed below to fix errors when trying to open a PowerPoint presentation, try the following:

Check the name of the PowerPoint file you can't open and make sure it doesn't contain any dots other than the dot before the "pptx" extension. Files with such names sometimes are flagged are malicious by the antivirus programs.

For example, if the PowerPoint file is named "Presentation_File.19.10.2020.pptx", then remove all other dots from the name except the ".pptx" (e.g. rename the file to "Presentation_File_19_10_2020.pptx")

If the PowerPoint file comes from a trusted source and your antivirus program blocks the file, temporarily disable your antivirus program and then try to open the PPT file.

Now, let me recommend a few methods for you to try.

Method 1: Unblock the PowerPoint File

If you are seeing the error "PowerPoint found a problem with content in PPT file" in a PowerPoint file downloaded from the internet or received as an attachment in your mail, then unblock the file and then try opening it by using the steps below.

Right-click on the PowerPoint file that is not opening and choose Properties from the menu.

In the properties window, make sure you are in the General tab.

At the bottom of the window, check the Unblock option next to the security warning message "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer", and then click Apply & OK to save the setting.

Finally try to open the PowerPoint file that you cannot open.

Method 2. Turn Off the Protected View settings in PowerPoint.

Open the PowerPoint application.
Click on the File menu and…

From the PowerPoint Options window, choose Trust Center at the left and click to to open the Trust Center Settings.

In the Trust Center window that opens:
Choose Protected View from the left-hand side.
Untick all the three options from the right side as shown below.
Click OK to apply the change.

Click OK again to close the PowerPoint Options window. 6. Now try to open PowerPoint presentation.

If the issue stay persists, please try to open the file in PowerPoint web version and change it format from ppt into pptx and try open the file again.

You can access PowerPoint Online (the web version of Microsoft PowerPoint) through Microsoft 365 at this link: https://www.office.com/launch/powerpoint

Sign in with your Microsoft account (or your work/school account).
Click PowerPoint from the app list.
Upload your .ppt file to OneDrive (if prompted) and open it directly in the browser.
Once opened, you can edit and save as .pptx for full compatibility.

Thanks Sir Alexis for your assistance , but my question in advance is that the ppt extension on my android mobile is not opening on my phone Microsoft365 office but it can open the pptx extension without any problem on my phone , and I want know what is the cause of that , and how to fix it ?

Since Microsoft is gradually phasing out .ppt support in mobile apps for performance and security reasons. Why can't I open my PowerPoint file?

Modern mobile Office apps are optimized for .pptx. They can open legacy .ppt files, but when editing is needed they will ask to convert, and certain older/protected .ppt files are better handled by PowerPoint desktop or web first. After conversion, they work normally on Android. What file types are supported in Microsoft 365 for mobile?

So, I'd recommend conversion from ppt to pptx for better experience.
You can access PowerPoint Online (the web version of Microsoft PowerPoint) through Microsoft 365 at this link in your mobile browser: https://www.office.com/launch/powerpoint

Sign in with your Microsoft account (or your work/school account).
Click PowerPoint from the app list.
Upload your .ppt file to OneDrive (if prompted) and open it directly in the browser.
Once opened, you can edit and save as .pptx for full compatibility.
