Why can’t I open any new PowerPoints from Canvas all of a sudden after doing it from the start of the semester?

I have been downloading PowerPoints from the canvas app onto the PowerPoint app from my IPad for school. I just got the new version 11 IPad this summer. I have been able to download PowerPoints just fine but today i went to download a PowerPoint for my lecture and the error “Sorry, something went wrong and (PowerPoint title) can’t open. ” with the only option to close out of it is the box underneath saying okay. I tried other PowerPoints from different classes and the same error occurs.

I have been able to work around it by saving it to google slides and then opening it onto PowerPoint app from there or going through Safari into my actual OneDrive account and then opening it onto the power point app after it is saved.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled canvas and PowerPoint, updated my IPad, and shut it down. The IT group at my school tried for an hour to figure something out by was unable.

I just don’t understand why i have been able to download PowerPoints before and now all of a sudden i can’t. (I’m pretty sure the problem is PowerPoint not canvas)

Please help.

    Regarding your issue, I understand that you're having a frustrating experience trying to open PowerPoints from the Canvas app on your iPad. Also, I have tested it on my end and cannot reproduce the same error. Hence, it does need some more confirmation under an overall test environment inside Canvas to further test if a similar issue can be reproduced.

    Since you have tried reinstalling PowerPoint for iOS, but the problem persists. I think it may be that the latest Office for iOS apps have compatibility caused by specific conditions. In this case, I suggest you send feedback to Microsoft and report the issue to your tenant admin (or IT team) for further troubleshooting.

    In PowerPoint, click your profile picture in the top left> Help & Feedback> Tell Us What Can Be Better. You can provide your email address, describe the issue, and provide the screenshot of the error message via the feedback.
    Contact Microsoft Support

    If you're willing, we sincerely recommend you contact your Microsoft 365 administrator, follow steps in this article to create a support ticket with Online Support. The support team over there has higher permission than us, they can help check the situation on your side, involve more resource to collect logs and help you do troubleshoot. This would be a more efficient way in handling this case for you.
