The option to connect to WiFi is no longer there. Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter and the same name but #2 both say "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." I'm feeling frustrated, wondering why this happened and would love to know how to fix it!! Thank you so much :)))

Hey Kiera. Can you do a network reset on your device? This step will revert your network to its default settings, which might solve the problem by disconnecting your Surface Pro from all network connections and forcing it to reconnect again.

    1. Select the Start button.
    2. Select Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset.
    3. Select Reset now. Wait for your PC to restart, then test the internet connection.

Once you've reset your network, try signing back into it. Let me know what happens.

    Hi @Kiera Forrest

I understand that you're dealing with a frustrating issue where your WiFi drivers aren't working and the option to connect to WiFi has disappeared. This usually happens when the wireless adapter is off, missing, or the driver failed. The Code 45 error means Windows can't find the hardware.

I really recommend you to try to running the Surface Diagnostic toolkit first to see if there are missing, corrupted drivers and lacking updates. Below is the link on how to use it.

What's the model of your surface device? When did the problem started happening?

Let me know how it goes. Looking forward to your response.
