    Hi @Dakota Clark

Thank you for your prompt response.

Please note that this feature is typically available in the desktop version of PowerPoint, so if you're using PowerPoint for the web or a simplified version, the Slide Master may not be accessible.

To help you update your default font, here are a couple of alternative methods you can try:

    1.Check Your PowerPoint Version

Some simplified or web-based versions of PowerPoint (like PowerPoint for the web or mobile) don’t include the Slide Master feature. Make sure you're using the desktop version of PowerPoint.

    2.Use the “Design” Tab Instead

If Slide Master is unavailable, you can try this workaround:

    • Go to the Design tab.
    • Click Variants (on the right side).
    • Choose Fonts > Customize Fonts.

    • Set your Heading and Body fonts.
    • Name your font set and click Save.

This will apply the font to the current presentation, but not globally.

3.Change the Default Font for All New Presentations

To make a font the default for all future presentations:

    1. Open a blank presentation.
    2. Apply your preferred font using the steps above.
    3. Save the file as a PowerPoint Template (.potx):
      • File > Save As > Browse
      • Choose PowerPoint Template (.potx)
      • Save it in this folder:
        C:\Users<YourName>\Documents\Custom Office Templates

When creating new presentations, select this template via:

    • File > New > Choose your custom template for future presentations.  User's image User's image

4.Use Keyboard Shortcut to Access Slide Master (if available)

    • At the Home tab, try pressing: Alt + W + M
    • This is the shortcut for View > Slide Master.   User's image
    • The Slide Master tab appears between the File tab and the Home tab. If nothing happens, it confirms the feature isn’t available in your version.  User's image

Note: Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you again for your patience and for the important work your charity does. I’m here to support you every step of the way.

I'm looking forward for your reply.

    Hi @Dakota Clark

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum.

It appears you're trying to change the default font in PowerPoint but aren't seeing the Slide Master option under the View tab. I’d be happy to help you with this.

Just to clarify, the Slide Master feature is only available in the desktop version of PowerPoint for Windows or Mac. If you're currently using PowerPoint for the web, that option won’t appear. If your Microsoft 365 subscription includes it, you can download and install the desktop version to access this feature.

To better assist you, could you please help me with a few quick details?

    1. Are you using PowerPoint on the web, desktop (Windows/Mac), or a mobile device?
    2. What version of PowerPoint are you using? (e.g., PowerPoint 2016, 2019, Microsoft 365, etc.)
    3. Are you signed in with a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account?
    4. Are you currently in Normal View, or do you see any message like Protected View at the top of the window?
    5. Have you been able to access the Slide Master feature before on this device/account?
    6. Is your PowerPoint fully updated to the latest version?

Once we have this information, we’ll be able to guide you more effectively.

    Looking forward to your reply!
