Wake on Lan for Surface laptop 7 by upgrading to Windows for Business?

I have a Surface 7 Laptop. I understand "wake on lan" is only available with the business/enterprise version of the laptop. If I were to upgrade my Windows O/S from the Home to Business version, will I be able to run the Wake on Lan option? Or is the hardware configured differently on my laptop that I would still not be able to use the "wake on lan" feature?

Apparently the IA who responded to you has never used a Surface device, as there is no such UEFI setting: User's image

    Microsoft only documents that the following devices support WOL

    User's image

    So I can't tell you if your third party dock will support it. I'd suggest trying your current Home version of Windows 11 with this dock and download Anydesk, which supports "WOL". You'd have to install it on your SL7 and the computer you want to use to wake your SL7. Confirm you can connect while the SL7 is awake, add it to your favorites in Anydesk on the computer you are using to connect to the SL7, then put the SL7 in sleep mode, then see if Anydesk will send it a magic back when you double click on it in the Anydesk favorites. This won't cost you anything but time. Go to https://anydesk.com/en and download and INSTALL on both computers to start. (Not sure what configuration you might have to do on your 3rd party dock ethernet connection in Device Manager to enable WOL.

    kind of troubleshooting you did? According to Microsoft, all Surface Laptop generations, including the Surface Laptop 7, support Wake on LAN from Modern Standby mode

    However, this only works when the device is plugged into AC power and you're using a compatible Ethernet adapter or dock, such as Surface Dock 2, Surface Thunderbolt 4 Dock, Surface USB-C to Ethernet Adapter, Surface USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

    and to enable Wake on LAN. In BIOS/UEFI, Restart your device and enter UEFI (usually by holding Volume Up + Power) then Look for Wake on LAN or Power on by PCI-E and enable it

    if it is still the same try this Open Device Manager then Expand Network adapters then Right-click your Ethernet adapter → Properties, Under Power Management,

    check this “Allow this device to wake the computer”, “Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer”

    and Under the Advanced tab, enable the “Wake on Magic Packet” and “Wake on Pattern Match” (if available)
