How do I add a new member to a GroupMe using their phone number so I can text them, on the web app?

I'm new to GroupMe. I want to use the web app, not the IOS app. I have created a group and I just want to add a few people to group SMS text them. I click on the group, then Add Members. I type in their phone number, then click Add. Then at the bottom of the screen I click "Add 1 member". When I do that, I get a message that says, "Couldn’t add selected member. Let’s try again". What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you for reaching us, Regarding your concern Using the GroupME Web App Adding a member to a Group is possible but sending them an SMS text using GroupMe web app are not allowed aside from chat and file sharing.

    If ever you unable to add a new member to your Group using GroupMe web app. The member might shown as not allowed or nothing will happened.

    Alternative way to add a member to your group by just giving them a sharelink or QR code via email, text or Social Media.

    To get the QR code or Share link from your Group. On your GroupMe click on the Group profile picture. Turn Enable Group Sharing on. Copy the Group sharing link or QR Code and share this to the member you want to add via email, text or Social Media.

    Hi Harry,

    For GroupMe Web application SMS text are not allow. You can only use Chat function for messaging.
