Hello MICHELLE GRANUCCI,

I'm sorry to hear you're still unable to view your old emails in Outlook or Windows Mail, even after following the steps provided by Microsoft support. Here are a few things you can try that might help resolve the issue:

  1. Check Account Settings: Make sure your email account is set up as an Exchange, Outlook.com, or IMAP type—these keep emails on the server so you can sync them again. If it’s set as POP, older emails may be stored only on your computer.
  2. Sync Settings:
    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts in Windows.
    • Select your account, then click on Change mailbox sync settings.
    • Ensure “Download email from” is set to “any time” (not just the last month or year).
Outlook Storage Location: If you were using classic Outlook, check if you have an old PST or OST file stored on your device (often in the “Documents\Outlook Files” folder). You can try opening this file in Outlook to access archived emails. Check Webmail: Try logging in directly via Outlook Web Access (Outlook.com or your business webmail, if applicable). If your old emails appear there, you may just need to reset or re-sync your client app.
  3. Re-Add the Account: Removing and then re-adding your email account sometimes triggers a fresh synchronization that restores missing emails.
  4. Contact Support Again: Since you mentioned following Alex’s steps already without success, I’d recommend replying back and referencing exactly what did not work—sometimes your mailbox may have a server-side issue only Microsoft can resolve.

Backup and Recovery: If you have a backup of your Windows profile or previous PST files, you might be able to restore your old emails from those backups.

Hopefully one of these steps will help you recover your important messages. If not, providing more details about your account type (Outlook.com, Gmail, work email, etc.) and how your account was set up in Windows Mail/Outlook can help diagnose further.

Best regards,

Jerald Felix

Can you find the messages if you log into web mail? If you don't have them in webmail, they were deleted.
