Side loading the latest version is not a problem, but it is not compatible with Surface Duo. Specific versions can support it but cannot log in
The Microsoft SwiftKey login doesn't work on the Surface Duo 2.
Please look into this compatibility issue and consider providing official support for Surface Duo devices.
On the Surface Duo 2, Microsoft SwiftKey cannot log in — attempting to log in always results in an error. The system has been updated to the latest version, Android 12. When opening Google Play and trying to update Microsoft SwiftKey, it shows that the app is no longer compatible with this device.
However, by sideloading the latest version of Microsoft SwiftKey (as of July 29, 2025, version 9.x), the app can be installed and login works properly. That said, the app has major compatibility issues with the Surface Duo. In particular, display problems occur when switching between unfolded and folded modes.

Thanks so much for reaching out and sharing your experience. We understand how important it is for your Surface Duo 2 to work seamlessly with apps like Microsoft SwiftKey, and we're sorry to hear you're running into trouble.
What’s Happening
On Android 12, the Play Store version of SwiftKey shows as incompatible with the Surface Duo 2, and login attempts result in an error.
When sideloading the latest version (as of July 29, 2025, version 9.x), login works—but there are display issues, especially when switching between folded and unfolded modes.
What You Can Try:
Sideloading the APK allows basic functionality and login.
Try these general fixes:
Clear cache and data.
Reinstall the app.
Set SwiftKey as your default keyboard.
Disable other keyboards to avoid conflicts.
Sync Troubleshooting:
If login works but sync doesn’t:
Toggle Backup & Sync off and on.
Sign out and back into your SwiftKey account.
Restart your device.
