Recently Word on Ipad is having some issues:
I have already done these trouble shootings: updated my Ipad (maybe this was the cause of the problem because I didn't notice this issue until then), updated to latest Word, uninstalled and reinstalled word, offloaded word app from Ipad storage and reinstalled it, hard restarted my device. I use this app frequently so am very familiar with it. Also, I tried testing other writing tools such as OneNote and Ipad Notes app, but have not had this same issue.

Hate that I’m not the only one experiencing this. I keep hoping with each update a fix.
The same problem occurred after the latest iPadOS update today. Looking at history, the problem has happened several times since 2022 with OS upgrades. I have tried every suggestion on this and other forums to no avail. I did, however, find a workaround which is not great but makes Word functional. After scrolling to a new page or pages, quickly tap the current screen to move the cursor. That will allow you to work on the current page without the issue. The best I can tell, the workaround only works for a full page, so those of you using the onscreen keyboard might be out of luck unless you keep clicking lower on the page as you work. Microsoft or Apple need to fix this pronto!
Update: I did more research. The issue does not seem to be document specific. I saved as a new doc, created a blank doc and pasted the contents from the original, and saved from multiple computers. None of those attempts worked. Logically speaking, the problem is probably Word App related, maybe an incompatibility with the latest iPadOS update or latent bug. Microsoft and Apple need to figure this out. Everything works perfectly from MacOS and Windows.
Update 2: I tried a dozen other things to no avail. Gave up and went back to my Windows Laptop. I think Microsoft has a lot more work to do before the IPad version is solid. Also, the iPad version is confusing. The print function disappears for some documents. Menu items get moved with updates, making them harder to find. Formatting is a pain, unstable, etc, etc. The Mac version even needs help. I’m sticking with Windows until the Apple versions are solid.
Update 3: I found a crude workaround. Placing the cursor at the end of a sentence or paragraph before scrolling prevents the rollback. My educated guess is that the Word App loses reference to the cursor location when it is in the middle of a word, space, or sentence (ie: not at a CR/LF). Microsoft: Get this fixed, please.
I'm not sure how much of a prior notice Apple provides app developers when an iOS is about to be updated. I don't think they give any. I usually avoid updating my iOS immediately for that reason, unless it is an important security patch. Sometimes it takes a while for an app developer to know there's a problem and then more time to figure out what the fix is, fix it, and submit the app to Apple for approval.
Yes, this is happening to me as well. I am using an Apple Magick Keyboard, IPad Pro 5th Gen and am on iPad OS 18.4.1. This is incredibly annoying and makes the product borderline unusable.
This is driving me crazy. It’s started with the last update. It has made word and power point useless. Help Apple. Or,I’m going to use Pages
