To my knowledge, this change is intended to strengthen user data security. Some feedback has indicated that when accessing office.com (especially in public or crowded places) documents stored in the cloud could be publicly visible, potentially leading to unintended personal data exposure.

Ryan - thanks for the response but just pointing out that this reasoning doesn't really make much sense - as the same argument could be applied to OneDrive or Outlook pages. And it doesn't explain the decision to remove the app waffle from that page.

Oh well, we'll see if Microsoft listen to their customer feedback.

I find this annoying and counter productive. Having trained us to find all MS office products in one place, we are now being herded to a single product. Most of my daily tasks do not require AI, and I avoid increasing my personal environmental footprint exponentially for every simple task. I am perfectly capable of finding AI when I require it.
