new version of O365 home page?

The new startpage is completely useless.

What is the MC or roadmap reference for this please? I'm now getting complaints coming in that we didn't notify our users about this change, our training team are panicking as they have introduction to M365 courses that were leaning heavily on the M365 home page to help people find files and file locations - fortunately we also heavily leaned into use of Search so hopefully our users who've already been trained will cope but we're dealing with large numbers of users who are NOT IT-savvy and they DONT expect their working life upended with no notice and as I'm the person who monitors message center I'm feeling pretty stressed and anxious that I've let thousands of people down. So, y'know, slow clap microsoft what on earth are you guys thinking? Is it that you don't like money, and want people to move to other platforms which don't treat busines customers like beta testers? If so... I mean well done it's working.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your question regarding the new Office 365 interface following the integration of Microsoft 365 Copilot. 

We’d like to provide more clarity on these changes and guide you on how to access the Quick Access file list – a familiar feature from the previous layout. 

The Office.com homepage has recently been updated to integrate Copilot, an AI assistant designed to help you search, create content, and access documents using natural language. 

The previous interface, which included sections like “Recommended” and “Quick Access,” is no longer displayed directly. However, those files still exist and can be accessed through the Search feature. 

Currently, Microsoft does not offer an option to revert to the old interface or disable Copilot on the homepage. 

How to Access the Quick Access File List 

1. Go to https://office.com and sign in as usual.
2. On the left sidebar (or top menu on mobile), click the Search (magnifying glass) icon.
3. In the Search interface, you’ll see sections such as: 
   1. Pick up where you left off: Recently used files
   2. Shared: Files shared with you
   3. Favorites: Files you’ve marked as favorites

You can click on any file to open it, or use filters to narrow down your search. 

Hovering over a file will show a preview and summary (for Office documents), helping you identify it without opening. 

Alternative Options 

• Go directly to OneDrive at https://onedrive.com to view recent files.
• Launch specific apps directly, e.g., Word: https://office.com/launch/word
• Use the Microsoft 365 app on desktop or mobile – this interface still shows recent files and is less affected by Copilot changes.

Agree. This landing page UI update is not a helpful one by any stretch of the imagination.

This ranks up there in "what are you thinking?" along with officially renaming Microsoft 365 to Microsoft 365 Copilot. Anyone confused yet?
