PowerPoint application crashes on copy and paste

Hi everyone,

My Powerpoint app on my iPad pro 13“ with M4 keeps crashing every time I use copy and paste to copy text from one powerpoint presentation into another.

I have iPadOS 18.5 installed with Powerpoint beeing managed over intune and app version 2.97.25052313.

Both presentations are stored within OneDrive and marked as offline available.

I can reproduce the issue with the following steps.

Without stagemanager activated:

open the PowerPoint app
open one presentation
copy a text from this presentation
open another instance of Powerpoint in split view
paste the text into this new presentation
The app hangs

With stage manager activated it‘s the same behaviour.

Steps I did so far:

* reset the application data

* reinstall the application

* deleted sign-in credentials

* cleared all presentations

Any suggestions?

I’m very sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue with PowerPoint. I’ve reviewed the situation again and would like to suggest some options for you to troubleshoot it:

Avoid Split View and Use Full-Screen Workflow

The most effective workaround currently is to avoid using split view or Stage Manager when copying and pasting between PowerPoint presentations. Instead:

Open PowerPoint in full screen.
Open the first presentation, copy the desired content.
Close the first presentation.
Open the second presentation, then paste the content.

This method avoids the memory and rendering conflicts that are likely causing the crash

Update the App and iPadOS
- Go to the App Store and check for PowerPoint updates.
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update to ensure iPadOS is fully updated.

Even if you're on the latest version, rechecking ensures no incremental patches are missed

Temporary option: use PowerPoint Online
- Open Safari and go to office.com.
- Open both presentations in separate tabs.
- Copy and paste between them.

This bypasses the app entirely and uses the more stable web version

If the issue still persists, you can contact Microsoft Support – they can perform a remote session to investigate the situation, verify the backend configurations, and resolve the problem for you better.
