Why is Publisher being phased out, and what is Microsoft replacing it with? Will Microsoft 365 be cheaper since they are phasing out the program?

As a senior and a person who has ADHD, I don't like change, I don't like to have to upgrade and purchase programs that were included and continue to pay higher prices for fewer services. I use Publisher a lot. We make camping calendars, calendars for family birthdays, workers' schedules, etc. Soon, there will be nothing in Microsoft to fulfill this. I make camping meal plans, and prep and supplies. and no, word and its things suck. Not even close to being user-friendly for seniors, if you learned to use Word before, the updates are not as user-friendly. Great for kids learning it now, sucks for seniors. I make banners, posters, cards, signs, etc. What will I use now? I had a chat with Mohammad for 20 minutes, and he kept telling me Microsoft has a plan, just wait for it. I did mention that once you state you are phasing things out, you already have a plan and might as well explain it. No large company or corporation says they are phasing something out if they haven't come up with a plan already! When he suggested I wait, I was not impressed at all. Wait for what? Wait to hear we waited too long to be a voice the company needed to hear from us sooner? Not a happy Granny!

The person I spoke with said that the company and higher-ups need to hear from us. If you like Publisher, let them know. I am trying!!

Stepen, U agree.with you 100%. But since Microsoft doesn't seem to be hearing loyal customers, Infound am alternative. I purchased a lifetime license and download of Microsoft Office 2021 from PCworld.com for 47.99. It was the only viable option I could see since Microsoft has refused to answer my messages in feedback though Inhaler asked for a reply. PC world recommended I uninstall my Microsoft Office 365 subscription before downloading 2021, but I did not and my hp desktop seems intelligent enough to handle both copies. It shows I am using the 2021 version and working fine. They offer other versions of Office ( Office Pro doesn't look like it has Publisher so be sure your ordering the right version if you decide to go this route. This version of publisher will remain on your computer when Office 365 stops it. Won't update after a while but will work as it does now, which is all I need. Hope it works for you. Price was no different than other brands of card printing software that had so much less capability than Publisher. Print Artist was 47.99 and only printed address and shipping labels; none of the specialty labels I use, like hershey kiss sized I make for family parties. So good luck. Hope this helps you

I think it is a shame that they are getting rid of the only user friends program. Word and PowerPoint are not user friendly. I use Publisher for almost everything in my work. Tickets, flyers, bulletins, presentations, because it is so easy to use. It is very upsetting that I have to learn a whole new program that takes me twice as long to make something or pay another fee. Please keep publisher!!!

From someone who runs a very small business, I have literally thousands of publisher files, for our social media, for our advertisements, for flyers, labels, business cards, etc. I created my logo with publisher. I do my labels in publisher....You can't even print labels in word, if the database was created in excel, which is where all my databases were created.

Word and powerpoint can't even begin to create what you can do in publisher. images and design doesn't even function correctly in word & Powerpoint, they are both so archaic when compared to a design program.

As a long time user of Microsoft Office programs, I can confirm that using mail-merge in Word can produce all sorts of documents, including labels, using data from another Word document, Excel or Access. I have also used Publisher with data from Excel or Access.
I have to admit that using Publisher with merged data is much easier than Word for complex documents, as the layout of a document is far easier in Publisher. I worked as an IT Technician at a Primary School for 17 years and taught many people, both staff and pupils, how to merge data in both Word and Publisher for both simple and complex documents. I often extracted data from school MIS systems into Excel in order to produce reports that were not available in the MIS.
