Why is Publisher being phased out, and what is Microsoft replacing it with? Will Microsoft 365 be cheaper since they are phasing out the program?

Word and PowerPoint are NOT alternatives to Publisher. In fact, I would say that only people who don't know how to design anything would think they are alternatives. Have you EVER tried to create a booklet or poster in Word? This is NONSENSE. The only reason I have a 365 subscription for personal use is for Publisher, as I use it constantly to create concert programs and other marketing materials. I am extremely disappointed that the company is removing this app from 365. Between this and forcing its useless and intrusive Co-Pilot on us, I will most likely be cancelling my subscription.

I agree 100%! We're a church in the exact same boat. I use Publisher daily for soooo many tasks. Almost 20 years of documents, bulletins, reports, posters, & announcements that I update & reuse. Countless documents! I really want MS to keep Publisher viable. No need to update or change - just keep it going.

Just download the zip file and right click the file and select "extract all." There will be an Excel and Access file. Just open up the one you want. I did the Excel file. You want need to install the macro, the file will open up with the macro running. You will need to enable macros if it is blocked. You will see the cell to enter the folder path. To get the folder path if you do not know how to put it in, is to open the folder with the Publisher files and click the folder location at the top of the folder and copy it and paste it in the cell and then click the "Export the PDF" button

I use PowerPoint.

I use Publisher.

I can tell you straight now that there is NO WAY we can do in either Word or PowerPoint what we can do with Publisher. No chance! In fact, many times we have to go into Publisher to design something, then import that into Word!

We have around 5 books that we have designed and published all using Publisher because they are very heavy graphics (Kindergarden/1st grade curriculum books). We tried to move one of our books to Word and it failed big time!! We are now considering moving all of our Word to Google Docs, Excel to Google Sheets and Publisher to Adobe because of this change.

Microsoft, you're about to loose a lot of customers over this.

Word is NOT a desktop publishing software. That's what Publisher was for. Word does not have the features needed for a newsletter, where you have the ability to edit and move around text boxes and pictures easily between pages if needed, as you fill and complete your publication. Publisher allows you much more flexibility in design. In Word, you are constantly fighting its constraints because it is primarily for producing documents such as letters, reports, white papers, etc. There is very little design element freedom.

I have been using Publisher for YEARS and have been certified in Word for longer. I know they are meant for different purposes.

Please do not DOGE Publisher!!
