I recently got a new phone, which included me selling my old phone. I was not aware of needing a backup for the authenticator app so I never backed it up. I've been trying to get back my account so i log into some work and school accounts but the same problems shows up and im only seeing one solution to this problem which doesn't work for me. Have i simply lost access to my authenticator account and therefore my work and school accounts due to not having a backup or my old phone or is there another way to fix this?

    Dear Ben Kalala,

Good day to you and thanks for your post in Microsoft Community. I'm sorry for the inconvenience you've encountered.

Regarding your issue, I would like to suggest you some tips that you can consider:

    • It will work with account that created by organization - company/school
    • I would recommend you contact your school/company account's Admin/IT to reset your MFA settings through the Microsoft Entra Admin Center. Ask your administrator to follow these steps:
    • Revoke MFA sessions and require re-register in the Microsoft Entra admin center

Once again, I sincerely apologize for the unpleasant experience. I look forward to your information and if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me - I’ll be happy to assist you. Wishing you a wonderful day.

    Best regards,
