ungroup grayed out

I've downloaded a PowerPoint and wish to ungroup and EDIT however 'UNGROUP' is GREYED out?

Microsoft 365 and Office | PowerPoint | For education | Other

    Your operating system is relevant, but you didn't include that info when you posted. PowerPoint for Windows? Mac? Running in a browser? on a mobile device?

    A couple things to add to Jess-Q's reply:

    Have you selected something (ie clicked on it)? You can't ungroup until you've selected something TO ungroup.

    If you've selected something, are you sure it's a group? You can't ungroup what isn't grouped in the first place.

    Before we proceed may I know what version of PowerPoint you're currently using, because I tested it on my PowerPoint desktop app and was able to group and ungroup perfectly using this bar

     

    Please refer to Group or ungroup shapes, pictures, or other objects - Microsoft Support - for detailed information on grouping and ungrouping in PowerPoint

    Please give it a try and let me know your update. If the issue still persists, please provide a details screenshot of the issue and make sure that you hide all your personal information
