I’d like to offer a more complete guide to ensure everything works smoothly:
- Open PowerPoint and go to the slide where you want to insert the timeline.
- Click on the Inserttab in the ribbon.
- Select SmartArt from the Illustrations group.
- In the Choose a SmartArt Graphic dialog box:
- Go to the Processcategory.
- Choose a layout that suits your timeline, such as:
- Basic Timeline
- Chevron Process
- Circle Accent Timeline
- Horizontal Bullet List
- Click OKto insert the SmartArt.
- Enter your timeline events:
- You can type directly into the shapes.
- Or use the Text Pane (click the small arrow on the left of the SmartArt) to enter and organize your timeline items.
- Customize the design:
- Use the SmartArt Design tab to change colors, add shapes, or adjust the layout.
- Use the Formattab to resize or reposition the SmartArt.
