Problem with Phonetic Keyboard

For past 2 days, Phonetic (Hindi) keyboard is giving problems. When I try to type a word, starting with some characters (like t, d, b etc.), it is not typing/converting beyond few characters.

Tried after rebooting the system 3-4 times. Removed Hindi language and re-installed also. Re-installed Hindi Phonetic keyboard as well. Nothing worked.

I have been a user of Phonetic Keyboard (Hindi) for many years and never faced such issue.

Please help.

Thanks for the update, Anurag.

Since the issue happens in all apps and Hindi Traditional works fine, it confirms the problem is with the Hindi Phonetic keyboard itself, likely due to a recent Windows update. You've done the right steps by updating Windows and sending feedback through the Feedback Hub.

While waiting for Microsoft to fix it in a future update, you can use Google Input Tools (online) as a temporary option for Hindi typing.

Take care and all the best,

Arlene D.

Windows is already aware of the bug. The fix is slated to be released with KB5062660.

Thanks. I had been struggling for the past 4 days thinking that my computer had problem and I am relieved now. I hope Microsoft will do the fix soon. Thanks.

I am also facing an issue with the Marathi Phonetic Keyboard where it does not convert typed text properly—either stopping mid-word or failing to display Marathi script. Other Marathi keyboard works well. Even after reinstalling the language pack and keyboard number of times, the problem persists. Kindly resolve this error at the earliest as it affects daily usage.

this problem is caused by KB5062553 (Windows 11) and KB5062554 (Windows 101) Update, it malfunctions the hindi phonetic keyboard hence not suggesting the hindi words, I, after uninstalling this particular update everything goes back to normal, and keyboard works fine again

The key steps to resolve this issue are, at your risk, till the new update is not released from Microsoft:

1.Remove recent Windows updates: As suggested in the comments, the best solution seems to be uninstalling the problematic Windows 11 /10 updates that caused the Hindi Phonetic keyboard to stop functioning.

    • Open the Settings app and go to Windows Update.
    • Click on "Update history" and then "Uninstall updates".
    • Look for any recent Windows 11 /10 updates and uninstall them one by one until the Hindi Phonetic keyboard starts working again.
    1. Check keyboard settings: Ensure the Hindi Phonetic keyboard is still selected as the active input method. You can do this by going to Settings > Time & Language > Language & region
    2. Restart your computer: After making the changes, restart your PC to ensure all the settings are applied correctly.
